The thatched, white-washed cottages, loosely based on the fishermen's houses in the Cape, are situated right on the water's edge of the Walvis Bay lagoon.
Features of Flamingo Cottages
The self-catering cottages are comfortable and fully equipped. Each can accommodate between four and six people. Bed linen and towels are provided, and each cottage has its own cosy fireplace, DSTV, and lock-up garage.
Some Ideas of What to Do at Flamingo Cottages
A protected wetland, the area is ideal for birdwatchers. Large groups of greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans, waders, and a wide variety of other birds can be seen here.
For those who enjoy walking, watersports, or simply relaxing by the seaside, this is the perfect spot. The flowerbeds, undulating lawns, and palm trees in the spacious gardens provide a beautiful backdrop.
If you wish to go kayaking, take a boat trip, try sandboarding, or embark on an excursion into the Namib, we will be happy to offer advice. Restaurants are within walking distance, and shops are close by.
Where is Flamingo Cottages?
At the palm tree circle entrance to Walvis Bay, take Union Street and follow the direction to Sandwich Harbour. Turn right at the end of Union Street into 5th Road (approximately 2.5km). At the first traffic lights, turn left into Nangolo Mbumba Drive. Flamingo Cottages are located 0.7km on your right, at the corner of The Esplanade and Nangolo Mbumba Drive, on the lagoon.
