The Design Icon Apartments are an ideal option when it comes to short-term accommodation. They give you the freedom to live like a local – you get more privacy, we do come and clean once a week, more room, and you can cook for yourself if you want. The apartments are perfectly woven around NewActon’s three flagship buildings. There are a number of different types but they all share the common Hotel Hotel thread with interiors overseen by Hotel Hotel’s aesthetic curator Don Cameron and Ken Neale

Nishi Pad The Pads are studio-style self catering rooms where living and sleeping areas allow freedom to work, eat and play with the convenience of a concealed pull-down queen size bed. There’s fully equipped kitchen specked out with energy efficient appliances. Depending on its orientation Pads come with a private balcony or winter garden view. They are ecofriendly apartments designed with cross flow ventilation to ensure coolness in Summer and through floor heat retention, warmth in Winter.

Nishi One Bedder A perfect balance of natural light and air flows, perched high up within the building, the self catering apartments offer far-reaching views. They are ecofriendly apartments designed with cross flow ventilation to ensure coolness in Summer and through floor heat retention, warmth in Winter. All One Bedroom apartments have been thoughtfully curated and are dressed with original artworks and collected objects. They all feature self-contained kitchens and laundries, featuring energy saving appliances.

South Loft We have five one bedroom, self catering, split level lofts designed for the part-time local, those planning to stay a bit longer or those that like more independence. Each has a fully equipped kitchen & laundry with Miele and Smeg appliances, discreet street level access from Kendall Lane (no lifts), and the ability to park your car right behind your place. The lofts all have a little front courtyard where you can park your bike or enjoy breakfast or a drink in the evening light. The lofts interiors each focus on a different designer - Grant Featherston, Verner Panton, Vico Magistretti and Achille Castiglioni. Each one is dressed with original contemporary artworks and collected objects.

Nishi Two Bedder Our eco-friendly Two Bedroom self catering apartments are a home away from home. Sun-drenched living areas are kept cool in summer and warm in winter with the clever cross-ventilation design featured throughout the Nishi building. Two Bedroom apartments include a designated study area and built in robes in both bedrooms. Designer energy-saving appliances are fitted in the fully equipped kitchen amd laundry. Each apartment comes with either a winter garden or balcony.

East Three Bedder Big and roomy, self catering apartment. Three bedrooms, big fully equipped kitchen and laundry specked out with Miele and Smeg appliances. Roomy open plan living and dining areas tenderly furnished with restored vintage beauties. These flow out to a huge balcony that looks down onto the village with a view to the lake and the mountains. The master bedroom has its own balcony, walk in robe, and ensuite with a big freestanding bath. Being nestled in the NewActon village means you’re a short stroll to good cafes and eateries, the bakery, the cinema, the city, the bush, and the big old lake.

Directions to Design Icon Apt

By Plane Canberra International Airport only serve flights from Melbourne and Sydney. There are flights almost hourly to Sydney and frequent flights to Melbourne. It takes approximately 50 minutes from Sydney, 1 hour from Melbourne, 2 hours from Brisbane and Adelaide, and 4 hours from Perth. The hotel is a 20 minute ride from Canberra.

By Train There are a lot of train connections offers scenic route going to Canberra from Sydney. The train rides takes 4 to 5 hours. Melbourne trains also serve routes going to Canberra.

By Bus All coaches from Canberra stop at the Jolimont Centre, in the city centre and immediately across the road from the Canberra local bus interchange.

By Car The drive from Sydney to Canberra is 290 km and takes around three and a half hours from the Sydney CBD, less from outer suburbs in Sydney. The drive from Melbourne to Canberra is 650 km and takes roughly eight hours on the Hume and Barton Highways, again mostly on dual-carriageway roads.
