Grungle Downs is ideally located to the Darwin Airport, Ghan railway terminal, the Marrara sports stadium and several shopping centres and is only 13 kilometres to the Darwin city centre and the city of Palmerston.

Set on 5 1/2 acres of native and tropical gardens guests are welcome to relax in the lounge, read a book from the library, walk in the extensive grounds, enjoy the abundant bird life or take a dip in the 13 metre in ground pool. A bird watchers paradise with over 60 species recorded.

Bed and Breakfast

We have 4 tastefully decorated queen rooms in the Bed and Breakfast Lodge where you can start with a fresh tropical breakfast on the veranda each morning. The Grungle Downs Cottage is spacious and completely self-contained with quality furnishings and is an ideal space for families and pets are welcome.

Indulge your imagination in one of our 4 guest rooms, each one with it’s own special outlook. 3 have French doors opening out onto verandas and one has it’s own ensuite.

We can even provide a 2 bedroom suite with it’s own lounge and study area. The Lodge has wireless connection and access to the Internet. All rooms are air-conditioned and fan cooled.

A spacious guest lounge, library and kitchenette add to the charm of this location where guests can help themselves to tea, coffee throughout the day.

For your convenience we have a large guest fridge, microwave, rice cooker, electric wok and BBQ. Laundry facilities are also available.

The Cottage

The cottage is private, spacious and fully self-contained where you can read a book, watch Television or just relax and listen to the birds.

The Cottage has a fully equiped kitchen with large fridge, freezer, microwave along with an open plan dining room and lounge.

The Cottage has 2 queen beds plus a day bed, a trundle bed and/or cot can be added on request. Verandas front and back provide additional places to relax or have a BBQ.The Cottage has it’s own laundry. The cottage is an ideal space for families and pets are welcome.

Grungle Downs is only 8 kilometres from Darwin Domestic and International Airport, Marrara Stadium and Casuarina Shopping Centre it a short drive to Darwin’s city centre, The Ghan railway station and Palmerston.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city Grungle Downs is ideally situated to take advantage of all the attractions such as Litchfield (1 hour) and Kakadu National Park (2.5 hours) along with Fog Dam (30 minutes) and The Territory Wild Life Park (30 minutes). We are within walking distance to the famous Crocodylus Park, Holmes jungle and the extensive bird life of Knuckey Lagoon and the Leanyer Wetlands.
