Horseshoe Bay Resort and Caravan Park, where the bush really does meet the beach, is situated at the tip of Cape Edgecumbe here in Bowen. A special little spot where the sun rises and sets over the water, and the bay never runs out of water. The resort is surrounded by four sandy beaches and the reef is just off shore making for some amazing snorkeling and diving it has been said to be as good as the great barrier reef.

Diving and Snorkeling- the coastline around Bowen offers incredible opportunities for divers and snorkelers. There are reefs, islands, rocky coastlines, bays and beaches to explore. You can experience the diverse sea life around Bowen at first hand. There is something for everyone here.

Walks- if you want to explore Bowen at your own pace, one of the best ways is to take advantage of one of the many easy walking tracks. These walking tracks take you through some of the best scenery around.

Bowen is located on the north-east coast of Australia. It has a  halfway between Townsville and Mackay, and 1,130 kilometres by road from Brisbane. Bowen is within 140 km of the giant Burdekin dam so a plentiful supply of fresh water will never be a problem no matter how many tourists discover Bowen's pristine shores and spacious hinterland, or how many high tech industries decide to locate themselves in Bowen's new industrial park, or how many farmers may want to grow small crops under Bowen's abundant sunshine.

By Plane
Flight access is via the major airports of Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine) and Hamilton Island, or Mackay and Townsville Airports which are a 2 hour drive from Bowen. Queensland Rail’s “Spirit of Queensland” provides regular connections in and out of Bowen.  Coach services connect daily, and provide north and southbound services.
