The main house was built in 1915 and at one time was home to Hobart Lord Mayor Robert Eccles Snowden. The property was somewhat run down having previously been used as a guest house and neglected. The couple lovingly restored and modified the house and then added the motel units we see today a few years later.

Most standard rooms have comfortable queen size bed and single bed with two comfortable chairs tastefully decorated and in keeping with the main reception area of period furniture and fittings. There are a number of apartment and spa rooms and the property caters for corporate requirements with rates and facilities. Michael Ludeke and staff welcome you to Motel Mayfair on Cavell.

Standard Motel Rooms

Standard motel rooms contain one queen and one single bed (we can add an extra rollaway bed upon request), microwave, toaster, tea and coffee making facilities, bar-sized fridge, AUSTAR television, ensuite bathroom with bath and shower and wireless broadband (you require a wireless enabled laptop and a credit card to use this service).

Breakfasts can be ordered and will be delivered to your room and some local restaurants and take-aways deliver to rooms of an evening.

Apartment Rooms

At Mayfair on Cavell we have a number of one and two bedroom apartments with the following configurations:

The Derwent Room – 2 bedrooms, two queen and two single beds, fully self contained; The Nelson Room – 2 bedrooms, one queen and three single beds, kitchenette;

The Wellington Room - separate self-contained 2-bedroom house with one queen and three single beds; and The Huon Room - one bedroom apartment with one queen and three single beds, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom.

The Derwent and Wellington Rooms are fully self contained.
