Mungumby Lodge

Mungumby Lodge is just south of Cooktown, north of Port Douglas or Cairns. We offer quality private accommodation for travellers seeking to stay in a resort style lodge that offers a personal experience. Our property is located at the apex of three very distinct landscapes as well as cultures, we are accessible and open year round. Our bungalows offer private ensuite bathrooms and are spacious. Each are located within the enclosed gardens with a great setting. Most guests advise we live in paradise, we wake up to this and the bird song every day.

Accommodations

We have ten spacious wooden bungalows with ensuite bathrooms and private patios. These are constructed separately from each other and the main building within the gardens. A large spacious main building with wide-open living areas right on the edge the beautiful Mungumby Creek. For meals, reading or just plain relaxing by the pool guests use the spacious homestead, which is surrounded by large tropical gardens and pool overlooking the rainforest.There are no telephones in the rooms, however fax, e-mail and message services are available and the homestead phone line is portable. We also have Internet available only from the office due to satellite connection.

Directions to Mungumby Lodge

By car

Cooktown is just over 300km north by road, from Cairns. The drive to Cooktown from Cairns is easy. The trip takes around 3 hours, is well signposted and hard to get lost. The driving challenges begin north of here. There is a unsealed dry-weather road that cuts through the Daintree National Park following the coast. It offers better scenery, but not usually a quicker trip. Rental cars are not usually permitted on this road. Cooktown is just over 2000km from Brisbane.

By air

Hinterland Aviation offer a regular service from Cairns to Cooktown with flights 3 times a day Monday to Friday and a Saturday morning flight.

By bus

Country Road Coachlines travel by both the coastal and inland routes, connecting Cairns and Cooktown three times a week. The coastal service also stops in Port Douglas and the inland service in Kuranda
