Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge is located in the heart of the beautiful Mary River Wetlands 2 hours drive east of Darwin via the Arnhem Hwy. The lodge is named after the explorer John McDouall Stuart who trekked through this area on his epic journey to become the first person to successfully cross the Australian continent (from southern Australia to the northern coast in 1862). The property was once known as Jimmy Creek Abattoir which processed the large numbers of water buffalo that inhabited the wetlands during the 1960’s to the early 1980’s, & was part of the original Point Stuart Station. |
Perfectly situated, it is the ideal base to explore the wilderness of Australia’s Top End – Mary River National Park, Shady Camp Reserve & Kakadu National Park. The lodge offers a variety of accommodation with comfortable facilities including a licensed Saloon bar & bistro. Tours & safaris are available to ensure guests from around the world experience one of the most diverse ecosystems in Australia. The Mary River Region, ranging from it’s magical monsoon forests, to dense mangrove habitats, lush floodplains, tidal rivers & billabongs, makes this area a wildlife observers & fishers paradise. Lodge Rooms The 15 Lodge rooms range from double and twin share up to 5 share. Perfect for couples, groups of fisherman and families. Features include air-conditioning, private bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, all linen, and bar fridge. Lodge rooms are serviced every second day. Additional costs apply for daily service. BBQ facilities are close by for self catering. Standard Rooms Standard style accommodation is also available. The 9 rooms range from double, twin share, or bunk 3 to 6 share. Standard rooms are air-conditioned with shared bathroom facilities. Linen is provided but you will need to bring your own towels. All standard rooms have bar fridges. BBQ facilities are close by for self catering. Camping Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge has several powered sites for campervans and the self accommodated, and an area for camping. The camp ground borders Jimmy Creek monsoon forest. BBQ facilities are available for self catering.

Safari Camps Situated in our private grounds close to amenities are 4 safari style campsites, which include a number of twin share tents and fully equipped kitchens. Each camp can accommodated up to 16 people. Each tent is canvas roofed with insect proof shade cloth allowing for breeze through cooling. Camp mattresses are supplied (no linen). The kitchens are fully functional which include gas bbq’s, cook tops, refrigerator, lights & ceiling fans. They allow for comfortable entertaining and dinning away from the insects and wet season weather. They are ideal for groups of fisherman, tour groups, family groups. The secluded areas have ample parking for vehicles, boats & tour vehicles. |
