We are on the corner of Vincent and Cessnock Streets in the Central Business District of Cessnock. The Railway Hotel is a perfect base for those exploring the Hunter Valley wineries and Golf Courses, attending special events, or just relaxing in this exciting region of NSW. The hotel is a short drive to the Hunter Valley Wineries and is only 45 minutes from Newcastle and Williamtown Airport.

We are located directly opposite Rover's Coaches who are famous for their wine tours as well as their reliable transport to and from concerts and special events. As our guest you can forget about driving and relax in the casual ambiance of the pub before setting off on your planned activities.

Our beer garden caters for children with a large playground. Parents can enjoy a meal in the relaxing surrounds of the beer garden whilst supervising the kids as they have fun.

We are a family business and we offer a traditional pub experience with great food, cold beer, clean and comfortable accommodation, a versatile wine list, and friendly service. The licensees, Des and Molly Ryan, commenced at the Railway Hotel in 2014.

The hotel supports the local community through sponsorship of local sporting teams and we are proud to be a part of this vibrant and diverse part of the state.

The Railway Hotel offers Restaurant and bar facilities, 14 accommodation rooms of various configurations, pool tables, TAB with live sports bet theatrette, and a beer garden with playground. We cater for functions and are happy to discuss packages to suit your particular needs.

The Railway Hotel has 14 rooms with accommodation ranging from single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms, and family rooms. All rooms are comfortable, spacious, and clean, featuring beautiful high pressed metal ceilings of a bygone era.

We offer traditional pub accommodation with shared amenities. A continental breakfast is included and a cooked breakfast is on offer for large groups and during special events.

The Railway Hotel is perfect for an enjoyable weekend away or some comfortable accommodation after a hard day's work.

Functions

The Railway Hotel restaurant is a great place to have your lunch or dinner function. It has a separate bar adjoining the dining room and is perfect for staff parties, Christmas parties, and birthdays. For kids there is a large open beer garden with play equipment.

The Railway Hotel restaurant has recently made changes and enhancements to the menu. Our talented kitchen team have experience from across the Hunter Valley wineries, pubs and cafes and are supported by friendly wait-staff. We offer a fantastic mix of traditional pub fare and restaurant meals.

Plane

Cessnock Airport is the nearest gateway in the region that offers charter and helicopter flights only. Visitors from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane can take a flight going to Newcastle Airport for approximately an hour. Newcastle Airport which serves domestic flights is the second convenient gateway to reach Cessnock for an hour drive.

Trains and Buses

Take a train from Sydney Central going either to the stations in Maitland, Morisette or Newcastle. These three stations has connecting coaches going to Hunter Valley, Cessnock. Travel duration depends on the station prefered by passengers. It is advisable to check train timetables to plan ahead your journey.

Car

There are various routes from Sydney that could take you to Cessnock and the Hunter Valley Region. Drive north to Sydney Harbour Bridge and continue to the National Highway. Take the M1-Pacific Motorway going towards Newcastle and take the exit Freemans Drive- B 82 going to Vincent St. Visitors who are opt for wine tasting must have a reliable driver since the country has strict drinking laws that are policed throughout the region.
