Built in 1887, The Russell Hotel is a unique example of a late nineteenth century Federation Queen Anne style hotel, featuring an impressive Scottish baronial tower marking the corner of George and Globe Streets. From the heritage listing, the building retains “significant original architectural features and much of the original internal layout and details”. The building has been carefully restored to maintain the elegance and charm of its late 19th century beginnings, whilst offering all of the conveniences expected by today’s most discerning guest of an iconic Sydney hotel.
