Colourful History The Tolarno Hotel was used in a more appropriate circumstance than when delving into the colourful history of St Kildas infamous Tolarno building. Today the hotel awards art prizes to the Victorian College of the Arts, Monash University and Royal Melbourne Institute of Tafe and the yearly winners are exhibited in the hotel foyer. Many of the paintings in the rooms have been purchased from the students and the balance from local artists. Set in the heart of St Kildas cafe, bar and club precinct, the hotel is a short stroll to the beach, Acland Street galleries and the Sunday Esplanade Market. Right outside the hotel are trams offering direct access to Melbournes CBD, the Casino, Southbank, National Gallery and Royal Botanic Gardens. |
Accommodation Standard Rooms- relaxed, individually styled rooms with queen bed and ensuite. Balcony Rooms- overlooking Fitzroy Street, to the heart of St Kildas café life, each room has its own private balcony. Windows are double glazed but if you are a light sleeper we recommend you choose one of the other room types which are not facing the street. Superior Mansion Rooms- all different, some with kitchenettes, two with a Japanese Bath. Twin Share Rooms- queen and single bed. Available in our Superior Mansion and Balcony Rooms. Sleeping up to three people, our twin share rooms are excellent value. |
Deluxe Superior Suite- a two roomed suite with a spacious living area, incorporating a mini kitchenette, and sofa. Double doors lead to the bedroom. Each room has its own Plasma TV, with a DVD in the living room. Executive Suite- this suite enjoys all the style and comfort Tolarnos is recognised for, with the addition of some special extras. Sit back and appreciate the décor and fabulous artwork, put on a DVD and prepare dinner in your own kitchenette. Junior Suite- a two roomed suite that can accommodate up to 5 people. One room has a queen and single bed, with a kitchenette whilst the other room has a queen bed. Both rooms have their own bathrooms. Deluxe Balcony Suite- larger than the traditional balcony room, the deluxe balcony boasts a kitchen with dining facilities, and if needed can be turned in to a two bedroom suite. Two Bedroom Suite- one suite is located on the top floor, at the rear of the hotel, offering guests a spectacular view from the balcony, overlooking Melbournes south east city skyline. The suite consists of two bedrooms, a large central bathroom with a full sized bath, and an open plan living area (kitchen, dining and lounge). |
