Come relax and unwind in comfort at Woodlands Lodge and Stop Over. Woodlands makes an ideal stopover en route to the Okavango Swamps, Chobe Game Reserve, Central Kalahari, Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana National Parks, and Victoria Falls.
Features of Woodlands Lodge and Stop Over Francistown
Grassed individual campsites with their own braai, water, and electrical points are provided. Alternatively, sleep soundly in cosy tiled chalets with African cane furniture and three-quarter size beds, each with its own electrical supply and tea/coffee-making facilities.
Enjoy hot showers in our spacious tiled ablution block. Alternatively, relax in our luxurious Woodlands Cottage or one of our new Riverview Rooms, which are beautifully furnished and decorated. Comfortable three-quarter beds with fresh, crisp linen and clean en-suite facilities are greatly appreciated after a long journey.
All units are fully equipped for self-catering. For your convenience, pre-cooked/frozen meals, braai packs, wood, ice, refreshments, and other basic food commodities are available. Breakfast packs for early travellers are also provided.
Woodlands Cottage
Our luxurious two-bedroom cottage is nestled amongst the trees along the banks of the Tati River. This cottage overlooks a secluded private braai area with visibility to the river. A wonderful full-length veranda offers space and privacy.
Upon entering, you are surrounded by local art pieces and Rhodesian teak furniture, creating a homely atmosphere. For the chilly months, this cottage features an attractive fireplace. The spacious kitchen is ideal for caterers and families alike, and the two bedrooms each have two three-quarter beds and their own en-suite bathrooms.
Riverview Rooms
Overlooking the Tati River, these rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated. Comfortable three-quarter beds with fresh, crisp linen and clean en-suite facilities are greatly appreciated after a long journey. Each room has a user-friendly kitchenette containing a fridge, kettle, microwave, cutlery, and crockery. Rooms are serviced daily.
Campsite Chalets
Situated among the campsites, these comfortable chalets feature two three-quarter beds with linen provided. Each chalet has its own braai facilities. Enjoy a hot shower in our spacious ablution area.
Deck Rooms
Located at the bottom of the campsite and away from the activity, this beautifully furnished room captures the full flavour of a deck cabin while offering all the comforts of a room. It sleeps two people on three-quarter teak-framed beds.
Complimentary tea and coffee are provided, but there is no fridge or cooking facilities other than a private and secluded braai area. The room does not have en-suite facilities, so you will use the communal ablution block. Private parking is adjacent to the room.
What to Do at Woodlands Lodge and Stop Over
Birdwatching is a great way to unwind. A large variety of Botswana bird species can be viewed at Woodlands Lodge.
Experience the call of the migrant Woodlands Kingfisher, which nests here annually during the summer months. Animals frequently sighted or heard include kudu, impala, bushbuck, duiker, steenbok, jackal, and monkeys.
Enjoy lovely walks along the riverbank and visit the Selolwe Ruins, a National Monument site, within easy walking distance.
Make use of the sparkling swimming pool to refresh yourself after a long journey.
Visit the Old Hunters' Road wall situated at the entrance to Woodlands. This site, previously travelled by hunters, naturalists, explorers, and missionaries on their way to Victoria Falls in the 18th century, offers an interesting expedition.
