Gomoti Plains Camp Okavango Delta

Built in a similar style to our signature Machaba Luxury tents, the Gomoti Plains tents and main area are slightly raised on wooden decks, overlooking the Gomoti river system.

Accommodation

The camp offers ten luxury safari tents, two of which are family units. These spacious tents are raised on wooden decks, as are the main areas of the lodge.

The tents are designed in a classic safari style, reflecting the land and water of the Okavango Delta, which shapes this stunning region. Luxurious, comfortable, and classic, all eight double tents accommodate two guests, while the two family rooms can hold four guests.

Each room is equipped with hot and cold running water, indoor and outdoor showers, flush toilets, and twin his-and-her basins. Electricity in the tents is reserved for lighting and charging batteries or computers.

Location

Located just 18 km south of Chitabe Camp, Gomoti Plains Camp is ready to spoil you and your guests with its classical comfort and exceptional wildlife. Explore the waterways by motorboat and mekoro, and traverse the Gomoti plains while enjoying the dense wildlife concentrations in the area.

Activities at Gomoti Plains

  • Game Drives

Game drives are conducted in the mornings and afternoons/evenings at the camp. Each drive lasts approximately three hours and takes place along the river systems and floodplains surrounding the camp.

The wildlife in the area is prolific, and there are good chances to see larger predators, herds of elephants, buffalo, and various plains animals. Night drives are held in the early evening, offering an opportunity to spot smaller, nocturnal animals with the help of spotlights.

  • Walking Safaris

Walking safaris are also offered, usually in the morning, with armed guides. These leisurely walks allow time to observe smaller details of the bush that may be missed during game drives. Walking is dependent on weather conditions and the terrain.

  • Mekoro Safari

A mekoro safari takes place in a traditional dugout canoe, poled by an experienced guide through the shallow waters of the Okavango. It offers a peaceful way to experience the waterways and surrounding islands, with excursions usually taking place in the mornings. Longer day trips can also be arranged.

  • Motorised Boat Safaris

Motorised boat safaris are available in the mornings and afternoons, returning to camp after sunset. These boats navigate the deeper channels of the region, offering a unique perspective of the Okavango Delta. Water levels permitting, these trips explore further afield.
