Nxai Pan National Park is in Gweta Botswana.
About Nxai Pan National Park
Nxai Pan is located on the western edge of the fossil pan from which the camp takes its name. The camp faces east over the open grasslands of the pans and accommodates a maximum of 18 guests, in thatched units specially designed to provide a constant and comfortable temperature throughout the year.
Excellent game viewing is possible from the comfort of your room as the waterhole in front of the camp draws a multitude of mammal species.
The daily safari routine usually involves an early morning wake-up call and a gathering around the fireside for piping hot tea and coffee, a bowl of sumptuous porridge, and freshly baked muffins.
As well as the clean early morning air and dazzling sunrise, an early departure greatly increases the chances of unusual sightings, as the majority of mammals are active at the beginning and end of the day when temperatures are lower.
Accommodation at Nxai Pan
Set in the amazing Nxai Pan – famous for "Baines' Baobabs," Nxai Pan has 9 environmentally adapted en-suite rooms to choose from, as well as a family room. Nxai Pan is also 100% solar-operated.
Nxai Pan forms part of the great fossil pan system which includes the vast Makgadikgadi salt pans. These pans were once the bed of a super lake fed by the Okavango, Zambezi, and Kwando rivers.
Despite the arid environment, the Kalahari Desert (Tau Pan) is home to a surprisingly diverse number of flora and fauna perfectly adapted to their surroundings.
