Welcome to Kwa Nokeng, your gateway to Botswana! Translated from the local language Setswana, Kwa Nokeng means 'at the river'.
Kwa Nokeng Lodge is a family-owned business in the Tuli Block in Botswana. We are situated along the Limpopo River at the Martin's Drift border post, just four hours from Gauteng.
Accommodation at Kwa Nokeng Lodge
River Cottages
These three self-catering units are on the banks of the Limpopo River, two of which are river-facing with their own decks - perfect for sundowners!
Each unit has one bathroom and two bedrooms with one queen-size bed and two single beds, sleeping four people.
The open-plan living area has a small lounge and kitchenette. The cottages are equipped with air-conditioning.
Safari Tents
Four river-facing, electrified and furnished tents. Campsite ablutions are nearby. Sleeps two people on two single beds.
Luxury Tents
Built on stilts overlooking the Limpopo River, these unique Luxury Tents offer you something different in terms of accommodation.
'Rough' it in style! There are four units, each with two single beds and two bunk beds, sleeping two adults and two children. En suite shower facilities are included.
Camping
Our lodge campsite has a lawn and power points with nearby ablution facilities. Firewood is provided.
Chalets
Five thatched bungalows set in the lush gardens of the lodge on the banks of the Limpopo, four of which are river-facing.
Each chalet has en suite shower facilities and air-conditioning. They sleep two adults and two children on two single beds and a bunk bed.
Activities at Kwa Nokeng Lodge
You are welcome to enjoy a buffet meal that is served around a crackling fire or on our deck under the nurturing branches of an age-old Nyala Berry tree, with a spectacular view of the Limpopo.
There are also self-catering units for families that prefer to do their own thing as they unwind and relax.
Kwa Nokeng Lodge has a relaxed, family atmosphere and you are sure to share stories with other travellers around our 'mokoro' bar, and even make new friends.

How to Get to Kwa Nokeng Lodge:

Directions from Pretoria:
Take the N1 North towards Pietersburg/Polokwane. At the 4th tollgate, approximately 180 km from Pretoria, take the booth on the far left towards Potgietersrus/Mokopane. You will see the Potgietersrus/Mokopane sign at the tollgate.
Tip: Do not proceed to Pietersburg/Polokwane as this will lead to a 100 km loop. Count the toll gates from Pretoria and turn left at the 4th one.
From the 4th tollgate, turn left off the offramp and follow the signs towards Potgietersrus/Mokopane for approximately 14 km.
You will enter Potgietersrus via Thabo Mbeki Street (main street). The main street is very busy, and it is advisable to avoid it to prevent becoming a target for smash-and-grab thieves while waiting at the traffic lights.
To avoid the main street and traffic, follow these directions:
- Enter Potgietersrus as per the directions above via Thabo Mbeki Street.
- Turn left at the first set of traffic lights into Geyser Street; you will see a high school on your left.
- Go over the first set of traffic lights, passing the Sasol garage on your right.
- Turn right at the next 4-way stop into Dudu Madisha Street.
- Proceed over a few 4-way stops until you reach the next set of traffic lights; turn left into Nelson Mandela Street. You will see a café on your right and a Land Rover agency across the street.
- Proceed for approximately 187 km to the Groblersbridge/Martin’s Drift Border Post.
- Once through the Martin’s Drift Border, proceed to the Caltex filling station next to the border; you will see the Kwa Nokeng Lodge entrance at the filling station.
Ensure you have enough fuel to travel to the Kwa Nokeng Complex at Martin's Drift in Botswana, as fuel is cheaper in Botswana than in South Africa.
