About Baines Camp
Baines Camp is set on the edge of the permanent waters of the Boro River, within a private concession that borders the beautiful Moremi Game Reserve.
Accommodation
This is a small, exclusive property that accommodates only 10 guests in luxurious suites. All suites are set on elevated platforms among the trees, each featuring a private deck offering excellent views over the river and a neighbouring lagoon.
Your accommodation includes a luxurious bedroom, complete with a four-poster bed, which is fully mobile, giving you the unique option to sleep under the stars on the deck or inside your suite. Each suite is en-suite and equipped with a ceiling fan, safe, and mini-bar.
The central camp area features an extensive deck for outdoor dining, along with a lounge area offering excellent views of the lagoon. The swimming pool is located to the side and is bracketed by two thatched salas.
Things to Do
Game viewing is generally excellent in this area, and guests can explore on morning and afternoon/evening game drives. You may also wish to experience a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) excursion through the Delta's channels – not only tranquil but an excellent way to observe the birdlife. The camp also offers small motorboats for more extensive water-based excursions.
Water-based activities are dependent on the water levels of the Delta. For the more adventurous, guided bush walks are available, offering an exciting and informative experience. At Baines Camp, numerous waterways, beds of papyrus, and a wide variety of animal species, large and small, await discovery.
Baines Camp also offers a fascinating elephant interaction activity (available at an additional cost), which includes a leisurely walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants. Guests have the chance to become personally acquainted with these gentle giants. The activity lasts around four hours and concludes with a picnic lunch.
Where is Baines Camp?
The camp has its own registered private airstrip (S19.37.23 E023.16.42), which is located approximately 45 to 60 minutes from the camp, depending on the water level in the Delta.
