About Gunn's Camp

Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Gunn's Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury vintage safari camps.

Gunn's Camp Okavango Delta

Set under leafy palms and African ebony trees to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn's Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness.

Upon arrival at the private airstrip on Ntswi Island, deep in the Delta, you will be greeted by welcoming hosts and shown to Gunn's Camp. The flagship accommodation at Gunn's Camp consists of six fully furnished, deluxe Kenya-style Meru tents with en-suite bathrooms featuring standalone baths and outside private showers.

Facilities

The accommodation area is connected to the main camp via a raised wooden walkway crossing the wetlands, magically lit by a series of fairy-like lanterns. Guests have access to the elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma, and swimming pool.

Mokoro Excursions

Become part of the bustling river life by gliding between the papyrus-clad banks on traditional 'mokoro' canoes. These are propelled from the stern by skilled 'poler' guides, allowing guests to sit back and absorb the scenery. For full-day trips, Gunn's Camp prepares delicious picnic lunches, which can be enjoyed on a Delta island after an exhilarating bush walk.

Bush Walks

Explore the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your personal guide. Feel your senses ignite as you become part of life in the bush and encounter game without the boundaries of a vehicle.

Island Camping

The camp managers will pack your mokoro with basic camping equipment and food, so you can set out with your personal guide to find an island where you will set up camp. The evening will be spent preparing dinner around the campfire in the company of Africa's nocturnal wildlife.

Motor-Boat Sunset Cruises

Motor-boat cruises are a great way to explore the crystal-clear channels of the Boro River. Organised in time to toast the stunning African sunsets while drifting on a lagoon in the middle of the Okavango Delta, you can watch the changing colours reflected in the smooth waters, disturbed only by dipping swallows or curious hippos. (Available at Gunn's Main Camp only, unless by prior arrangement and subject to Delta water levels).

Where is Gunn's Camp?

Gunn's Camp is accessed by light aircraft. Take a charter flight from Maun, which is about 20 minutes away, or from Kasane, which takes about 90 minutes. Guests at Gunn's Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana, can also make use of the boat transfer from Maun (4 hours).

There are strict luggage restrictions on the flight of 10kg plus hand luggage in soft, manageable bags. Guests are requested not to bring Samsonite suitcases.

During the flight, enjoy magnificent views of the winding, papyrus-fringed channels of the western Okavango Delta, Botswana—the world's largest inland delta.
