As the floodwaters recede, game drives and night drives in open 4x4 vehicles are available from September to May, depending on water levels.

Jacana Camp has five small Meru-style tents, accommodating a maximum of eight guests. Each tent is set on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains and includes an en suite bathroom with a flush toilet and shower.

Features of Jacana Camp

Jacana Camp is a true water camp, transforming into a small island surrounded by flooded plains when the Okavango Delta reaches its peak flooding each year (usually from April to October).

Jacana Camp Okavango Delta

During the height of the floods, the activities at Jacana Camp revolve around exploring the Okavango waterways by mokoro (dug-out canoe), motorboat, and on foot. Travelling silently by mokoro is a wonderful way to experience the Okavango, as you glide quietly through the shallow floodplains, enjoying the magnificent bird and aquatic life.

One of the highlights is searching for the rare and elusive sitatunga antelope. Larger mammals in the area can include elephant, buffalo, and lion.

Taking a mokoro ride to a distant island, followed by a lengthy walk, and then enjoying a leisurely brunch on a sandy bank is a fantastic way to appreciate the true wilderness atmosphere and the unique scenery and wildlife of the Okavango—with no one else around.
