About Santawani Lodge
Santawani is one of the longest standing camps in the whole Okavango.
Chosen as a site when sites were there to be chosen, by the legendary Jon Panos of Game trackers fame, Santawani proudly continues the tradition of home-grown hospitality.
Six simple twin-bedded, en-suite chalets and a bar /dining area looking out onto the fireside and waterhole belie the warmth generated by the staff, members of the local community of Sankuyo and native to the area.
It can accommodate 12 guests in 6 chalets, each consisting of a twin bedroom and bathroom.
The old Santawani has undergone an extensive refurbishment with new decor, linen, public areas and guides and Santawani offers an intensive game experience with highly qualified, local guides and custom-built Toyota Land Cruiser game-viewers, and is the perfect complement to Oddballs’, with its walking and water-based activities.
Activities
Santawani offers traditional day- and night game-drives in this private concession, known far and wide as being especially rewarding for game, and predators in particular.
Lion, cheetah, leopard and hyenas abound, as do a host of smaller but no less interesting predators, readily revealed by spotlight when by their natural camouflage they have eluded us by day.
