Serowe Country Inn is in Serowe Botswana.
Serowe Hotel: A Home Away From Home
Over the last few years, the new-look ‘Country Inn’ of the Serowe Hotel has excelled in providing comfort, tranquillity, and a professional yet homely atmosphere.
In addition, the hotel has established itself as the perfect base from which guests can explore and experience the historical village of Serowe and its surroundings. With pride, the hotel offers outings to the renowned Khama III Museum, a walking tour of the culturally enriching Kgotla and royal gravesites, as well as excursions to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary and beyond.
The hotel’s newly appointed en-suite rooms are spacious and feature air conditioning and television, with family suites also available. The state-of-the-art conference centres are always bustling, and the park-like gardens and swimming pool area make for a popular wedding venue.

Heidi’s Bar
Heidi’s Bar and lounge is a great place to find a comfy chair and enjoy a drink. It’s the perfect place to reminisce over a day’s sightseeing and travel.
Poolside Bar and Swimming Pool Garden
For those who love the sun, a dip in one of the tranquil pools and a cool, refreshing beverage at the poolside bar is the perfect way to unwind during the day. The area is also great for sundowners and al fresco dining in the evening.
Dining
We offer a full à la carte menu. The dining room is open from 6:15 for breakfast, and the à la carte menu is available from 8:00 until 21:30. The hotel also boasts a variety of pizzas from the busiest pizza oven in the area. Our menu is not exclusive to the dining room; guests are encouraged to enjoy their meals wherever they feel comfortable—by the poolside, in the garden, with friends around the bar, or if more comfortable indoors, we are happy to offer room service.
Things to Do at Serowe Hotel
There are many ways to stay occupied while visiting Serowe. We recommend a visit to the Kgotla, the tribal court.
The Khama III Memorial Museum is steeped in history, informative and entertaining. The Khama Rhino Sanctuary, located just 25 km north of Serowe, is perfect for an afternoon game drive and sundowners.
We would be happy to organise a cultural and traditional tour to one of the many interesting places in the area, upon request.
Stories
It’s not difficult to imagine Serowe in the 1960s—a bustling village steeped in history yet on the brink of change and ready to embrace anything new. Picture the showgrounds—dust raised by impatient cattle in their prime, a donkey cart steering off the tracks to make way for a Chevrolet while prospective buyers from near and far discussed the day’s market price.
Further along the main road, Swaneng Hill School and the brigades movement were conceptualised, while Dennis Service Station—established in the 1940s—ensured villagers were kept abreast of the modern motor industry, and GB Watson General Dealers provided sustenance for all other needs.
The perfect setting and appropriate timing, it seems, for the emergence of a hotel. Enter Jack Chase—flamboyant, fun-loving ex-RAF pilot, entrepreneur, and hotelier. Well known throughout the country for zipping around in his aeroplane, Chase’s popularity soared with the opening of ‘Chase-Me-Inn’, his first hotel in Mahalapye. Following this initial success, he welcomed his first patrons to the Serowe Hotel in the mid-1960s, and it wasn’t long before the simple yet contemporary cocktail bar became the villagers’ favoured watering hole.
Forty years down the line, and with a couple of changes in ownership, the Serowe Hotel has blossomed under the guise of a quaint ‘Country Inn’—a motif that is instantly recognisable, immediately felt, and continued throughout the establishment. With this kind of transformation, it wasn’t long before the Serowe Hotel reprised its status as the favoured watering hole for villagers and visitors alike.
Events and Weddings
The Serowe Hotel caters for a variety of events either within the hotel’s beautiful surroundings or off-site at venues outside the hotel. We have many years of experience catering for small intimate parties or groups as large as 2,000 people.
Conference Rooms
Our conference area consists of two inter-leading rooms. The larger room seats up to 50 people with tables or 100 people theatre-style. The smaller room will comfortably seat 20 people with tables. These facilities include audio-visual equipment.
Dining and Socialising
Guests can order from the extensive à la carte menu and choose to dine either in a formal setting or al fresco, in the thatched bar adjacent to the swimming pool and kiddies' pool area.
The restaurant boasts the hottest, busiest pizza oven, while the cocktail bar and lounge is definitely the best place to socialise and swap stories. The thatched poolside bar, broadcasting all major sporting events, is never a dull place to be.
With its blend of old-world charm and modern convenience, the Serowe Hotel ‘Country Inn’ is still adding value to one of the country's most historical villages and ensuring that this rich heritage is accessible to everyone.
