About Lawdons Lodge
A new luxury lodge near Shakawe on the western Okavango Delta, the name is combined from the first three letters of the names of the owner's sons: LAWrence and DONavan.
All the deluxe chalets and restaurant are raised one and a half metres off the ground to allow the high flood waters to surround the lodge without disturbing the local habitat or the guests. It is a place to relax in comfort while surrounded by the wildlife, birds, and natural peacefulness of the Okavango Delta.

There are ten chalets with air-conditioning, TVs, and double beds. The main complex houses the restaurant and reception, and there is a swimming pool.
Activities at Lawdons Lodge
Lawdons Lodge offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere along the Okavango River, an area rich in birdlife as well as excellent fishing grounds.
With the Okavango River at the panhandle being deep and fast-flowing, it is ideal for both the fighting tigerfish and bream. Seventeen species of fish can be caught in the Panhandle area.
The area is scenically beautiful, offering superb opportunities for photography.

- Tsodilo Hills: Nearby with over 3,500 Bushman paintings. There are four hills forming a line of sheer quartzite cliff faces. Long associated with spirituality, Tsodilo is a place of special significance to the Basarwa people. Archaeological studies estimate that humans occupied this area for 1,000 years. The Tsodilo Hills are one of the most historically significant rock art sites in the world and are a declared World Heritage site.
- Drotsky's Caves: Near the Namibian border and accessible by 4-wheel drive only. An impressive decorated cavern system with a series of stalagmites and stalactites rising to heights of about 10 metres.
- Mahungo Game Park: A small but well-stocked park where elephants, wildebeest, sable, and roan are some of the game to be seen.
Where is Lawdons Lodge?
Lawdons Lodge is located next to Drotsky's and on the river's bank. Almost 8 km south of the radio mast in Shakawe, you'll find a left turn off the tar road. This sandy track will lead you east, crossing the old road up the panhandle for about 3 km until you reach Lawdons Lodge.
