Barrowden is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. Barrowden is located adjacent to the River Welland in Rutland just off the A47 between Uppingham and Peterborough. It is a medium sized village with a population of about 420. It is often considered to be one of the more picturesque villages in Rutland due to its beautiful setting amongst hills and rivers, and also because of the open village greens and the village pond. There is a church, a village hall, a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy, a community shop, a mobile library, a recreational field with cricket club and a pub. The community are actively involved in making Barrowden a great place to live. Barrowden Village Hall was built in 1927 and continues to be a valuable asset to the village.
