Bodmin is the largest town in North Cornwall and is located near the geographical centre of Cornwall, being around 19 km from the north and south coasts and on the south-western fringe of Bodmin Moor: Bodmin is often referred to as the ’Gateway to the Moor’. It is situated at an important strategic point with the two main routes into Cornwall, the A30 and A38, converging on the outskirts of the town, and is close to Newquay airport. The Town Council serves the town of Bodmin, which has a population of approximately 14,500. Many of the services provided by the Council are also enjoyed by people living in the surrounding villages and the thousands of tourists who visit the town each year. The Town is the major centre for housing and industrial development in mid/east Cornwall and has recently been designated as a Strategic Urban Centre. Bodmin is an ideal base for your Cornwall holiday or Cornwall short-break. Bodmin is just 30 minutes from the stunning north and south coast Cornish beaches, is at the gateway to the traffic-free, walking and cycling route - the Camel Trail, is a stone throw from the world-famous Eden Project and has two impressive houses – Pencarrow and the National Trust’s Lanhydrock – right on its doorstep. Not to mention it is at the south-western edge of the windswept, undiscovered landscape that is Bodmin Moor with its granite tors, panoramic views, walking opportunities and rugged moorland villages.
