Places to stay in PewseyPewsey is located in the county of Wiltshire in the southern part of
England. You can easily access Pewsey via train, direct from London Paddington
station. This village of about 3500 residents (5000 including surrounding
area) boasts the 'Oldest Carnival in Wiltshire'. Pewsey Carnival, held
annually for two weeks in late September, culminates in a colourful and
wacky 'procession' of floats, bands, performers and people in all manner
of fancy-dress! The pretty village of Pewsey lies to the south of Marlborough.
Once owned by King Alfred, it offers a range of places to eat, drink or
shop as well as a Heritage Centre and a main line railway station. Pewsey
is surrounded by lush meadows and pasture - contrasting with the chalk
downland most commonly found in the area - and the Scotchel and Jones
Mill Nature Reserves are nearby. With its own wharf on the Kennet &
Avon Canal, Pewsey makes a good base for walking, cycling and riding around
the surrounding area. |
