Places to stay in Port SunlightPort Sunlight is a model village, suburb and electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, England. It is located between Lower Bebington and New Ferry, on the Wirral Peninsula. William Hesketh Lever established the gallery to enrich the cultural and educational aspects of the lives of his workforce and the public at large. The Lady Lever Art Gallery was opened in 1922 by Princess Beatrice (youngest daughter of Queen Victoria). It is probably the best surviving example of late Victorian and Edwardian taste and remains the only major public urban gallery built by its founder to house the collection he had assembled for it. The Port Sunlight War Memorial is one of the largest and finest war memorials outside of London and a fitting centrepiece to the village of Port Sunlight. This world-famous 19th Century garden village is home to a fantastic museum that tells the story of the community and its people. |
