Snaith and Cowick is a civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 5 miles west of the town of Goole. The town centre has a variety of pubs and hotels that are well worth a visit and for fans of Yorkshire ale, a trip to the Snaith Brewery should be firmly marked on your agenda! Whilst in Snaith make sure you find time to also drop into the local butchers and pick up some of their fantastic local produce. The town of Snaith and Cowick is an urban area that is larger than a village but smaller than a city. Unless Snaith and Cowick grows to a size where it is elevated to a higher administrative status it is effectively a parish but to differentiate between the two at the turn of the last century towns were granted the right to allow their elected representatives call themselves a "Town Council" and to, from their number, elect a Mayor. Other than that they have the same legal rights and responsibilities as a Parish Council.
