We are a semi-detached Victorian building in the quiet and attractive
seaside resort of Seaburn in Sunderland. We are approximately 500m
in from the sea front itself.
Access by road is very easy, and several bus services run very close
(400m) from the City Centre. The nearest Metro station (local light
rail) is 1 mile away.
We attempt to be accessible to a wide a range of guest as is possible,
and are glad to discuss any requests any guest may have. The Mayfield
Guest House (formerly the Mayfield Hotel, Seaburn) is beautiful
semi-detached building overlooking Seaburn Park and the seafront,
and offers superb bed and breakfast accommodation for visitors to
Sunderland and the North East.
The many excellent bars and restaurants on Seaburn Promenade are
only a few minutes’ walk away. Within 400m of the Mayfield
Guest House are long stretches of beach which have been awarded
the Blue Flag.

Mayfield Guest House - Room Features
• We have 5 ground floor bedrooms one of which has been made
more suitable for wheelchair users.
• Room 1 twin en-suite with shower and bath (shower is within
the bath) off front hallway near main entrance.
• Room 7 double en-suite with shower. Rear extension
• Room 8 double en-suite with shower. Rear extension
• Room 9 Twin en-suite with shower( most wheelchair friendly).Rear
extension
• Room 10 twin en-suite with shower. Rear extension.
• Single beds are 60cm high 100cm wide and 190cm long.
• Rooms 7,8,9,10,ensuite shower rooms are 170cmx160cm,with
shower inside at 84cm x 76cm,shower door 60cm,with step rise of
29cm.
Floor surface is vinyl in rooms 8 and 9, carpeted in 1,7,and 10.Room
doors are 69cm wide with locking door handles(lever) (knob in room
1) Sinks are 78cm high, toilets are 40cm high. Tiles in 7, 8,9,10
are beige, suites are ivory.
• Vertical and horizontal handrails in bathroom in room 9.
Showers have thermostatic mixers, twist taps controls.
• Bath in room 1 is 55cm height at side entry. Tiles are grey;
suite is white, with hand grips on shower and sides actually on
the bath itself. Shower/bath seat available.
We have 1 flashing /vibrating fire alarm available. In an emergency
every effort is made to assist guests with mobility restrictions
to evacuate the building.
We have a fire detection and alarm system fitted to BS standards.
We have a portable flashing light door bell.
Bed/chair raisers and toilet raiser available, hand grips for toilet
and sink in room 9, shower stool available and shower handgrips
in room 1 and 9.All entrances are flat.
Cordless kettles available, with side fill levels. Fridge use in
main kitchen on ground floor is available. Rooms have contrasting
bedding to carpets and walls. Breakfast in rooms is possible on
request.

Directions to Mayfield Guest House
From the North or South on the A19
• Leave the A19 at the junction for the A1231, signposted
'Sunderland North'
• Take the A1231 towards Sunderland, signposted for the National
Glass Centre and the Stadium of Light
• Go straight ahead at all roundabouts
• At the traffic lights take the B1289, following directions
for Roker and Seaburn
• Pass the Stadium of Light and the National Glass centre
• Drive through Roker and on towards Seaburn, with the sea
on your right
• Turn left at the roundabout in front of the Marriott Hotel
• The Mayfield Hotel is about 200 m from the roundabout and
is straight in front of you
• Turn right into the Mayfield Guest House car park.
From the North or South on the A1
• Leave the A1(M) at the junction for the A690 (Junction 62),
signposted Sunderland and Durham
• Turn onto the A690 towards Sunderland (not Durham)
• Pass through Houghton-le-Spring and reach the junction with
the A19
• Turn left onto the A19 Northbound, following signs for Sunderland
North
• Follow the directions above (From the North or South, A19)
