Named after a nearby hot springs Great Fountain - Grootfontein is a town in northern Naimibia on the main road north to the Caprivi strip and Victoria Falls. originallysettled by Boers from the Dorsland Trekkers it was abandoned in 1887 and later became the headquarters of the South West Africa Company.
