Aloha and Welcome to Ala Kai, a bed and breakfast by the sea. We are located at Kaloli Point on the rugged Puna Peninsula. Off Highway 130 between Kea’au and Pahoa, Ala Kai Bed and Breakfast is a scenic 17 mile drive south of the Big Island of Hawaii’s Hilo airport and 25 miles northeast of Volcanoes National Park.

Ala Kai, in Hawaiian, means by the sea or road by the sea. Once you see our beautiful home, you will understand why we chose that name.

Bamboo Room

Enjoy a touch of the exotic in our bamboo accented room located on the lower level and which features its own entrance and a private bath with river rock flooring and walk in shower. Sitting area, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, picnic basket, cable television and DVD player also included.

Aloha Suite

For 2-4 people traveling together, enjoy our two bedroom suite, which includes the Aloha Room, the Turtle Room and a shared bath. The Turtle Room with its Honu motif features a queen size bed, futon, television and DVD player. Each room has its own entrance to the lanai.

Directions to Ala Kai Bed and Breakfast

Driving directions are: take highway 11 south from Hilo airport or north from Volcanoes National Park to the junction of highway 130. Take highway 130 towards Pahoa. Before you reach Pahoa on your left you will see 2 streets which enter Hawaiian Paradise Park. The first street is Shower Dr (shortly after the 3 mile marker) and the second is Kaloli Dr (shortly after the 4 mile marker). This is where you turn left. Come down Kaloli, about 5 miles to the end of the road. Turn right onto to Beach Road and then take your first left on Pilikai. Go 5 streets to the stop sign (E Street). Turn right and go 2 blocks to the stop sign. Turn left onto Paradise Ala Kai. We are the 2nd house on the left.
