Welcome To Art and Orchids

Your hosts Markie and Jerry live here with their three dogs, two cats, 8 parakeets and a few yard chickens. No pets are allowed in the guest areas (except the gazebo, where Buddy the cat hangs out). Before we moved here from California, Markie was a train conductor and Jerry worked as an electrician. Jerry is now an electrical contractor and Markie enjoys making art which is sold at the B and B.

Both of us are avid gardeners and enjoy taking care of our three-acre yard. Markie is a master gardener, which is a continual learning experience. Jerry takes care of the greenhouse, where he grows vegetables in soil as well as aquaponically. He also grows orchids which are brought into the B and B when they bloom.

Rainbow Room

The Rainbow room features a California king bed, robes, private bath, walk-in closet and a reading area with wood slab table and several chairs and a fresh tropical bouquet.

The private balcony overlooks the hot tub and lava rock pond. The bathroom floor is tiled with a mosaic featuring little ceramic fish.
Bathroom amenities include towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bubble bath and a hair dryer. There is a single blow-up bed available for an additional guest (usually a child.)

Kaleo's in Pahoa

Fabulous fresh food, bar and live entertainment. This is one of the best restaurants on the island.

We are conveniently located 15 miles from Hilo and 25 miles from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Some of the local attractions include waterfalls, botanical gardens, zoo, hiking trails, volcanically heated "hot" ponds, Lava Tree State Park and snorkeling, swimming and surfing at black sand beaches.
