The falls at Reed's Island is a vacation rental located five minutes from historic, old Hilo town on the east side of the Big Island. The House is positioned on top of a large volcanic flow. Two hundred truckloads of lava rock were taken away to create the house pad. The house is painted black to appear as if it emerged from the Lava rocks below and is surrounded by richly colored, sunlit vegetation.

You will love the filling of being deep in the rain forest but a shor walk to old town Hilo.Historically home for the Hawaiians was not on the beach, they lived in the valleys where the weather was appealing, inspirational and serene. Legend has it that Reed’s Island, was the playground of the Alii.

The Falls at Reed's Island is about 1 mile from old historic Hilo town and Hilo Bay “The Beautiful Bayside City”. The land is more vertical than horizontal, a sliver with about 700 of frontage on the Wailuku River, the largest river in the State. It is protected by a fragment of State land on its side away from the river and the land across the river is protected by a conservation easement. When on the property, it seems deep in the rain forest, although it is really in downtown Hilo.

From Hilo Airport (12 min)

Turn right at the stop light at the end of the airport access road onto Kanoelehua Avenue (11). At the next light turn left onto Kamehameha Avenue. Go about a mile along Hilo Bay, turn left at light onto Waianuenue Avenue (200). Go up Waianuenue about half mile, turn right at light onto Kaiulani Street. Cross wooden bridge and go to very end of street, through chain link gate onto the property.
