Technically the Kalahari Region is not a true desert as it gets too much rain but with the vast dry sand dunes extending over the area and the harsh heat it seems like a desert.

The red dunes turn green after the summer rains and burst into life as flowers, insects, birds and animals all enjoy the fresh rains, then it gets hot and dry and everything adapts in its own unique way to survive in the desert until the next rains, a truly remarkable cycle of survival.
