Reviews of Motel Do Mar in Ponta do Ouro Mozambique

This area is just not made for a family, it’s dangerous and the people are rude. You always have to look after your family members so nothing happens to them, and the Motel is just in horrible shape, they need to see that they keep up with the maintenance of this place. The fridge didn’t work and even electricity problems accured in some rooms. Our neighbors had started a fight after drinking too much, but I know this is not the motels fault at all. But due to all this happening and just getting worse I had to get my family out of there the next morning, while it was still going on.
The rooms are average and the water wasn’t looking to fresh, and I do not think you can shower in it. It’s also overpriced. The braai area is too small and there’s no privacy, and the breakfast they serve is terrible.
I do not recommend this place!!

We just returned to South Africa after staying from end November till beginning December at Motel do Mar. The third year in a row. We love Ponta do Oura and go back to the motel as we like staying there. But this mignt have been our last stay there.

The place is deteriorating so fast. We had most of the time no power. Which means we could not do our anti mosquito routine. This is important as we took small kids along. Mostly when the power was off there was no water. So no power and no water for most of our stay. Our geyser broke and for 2 days when there was water we had no warm bath water. Anyone in there right mind can realise this is unfair. Motel do Mar has a generator but it was broken and waiting for parts. Everything is either broken or almost. On our last evening there was broken into our neighbours flat and they left early as they could not get help from the security.
Do we just have to accept this poor service, would you accept such poor service?
Would you stay in such a place?

We enjoyed our stay at Motel do Mar very much. I loved the fact that it is so close to the beach. The breakfast was also very good. I know that the price for staying at Motel do Mar is reasonably inexpensive, and that said I would still like to complain about the way things are run at Motel do Mar.

1. Even though breakfast was delicious you never get what you ordered...Choice of breakfast was fried egg/scrambled egg/omelet with bacon, vienna and fried tomato. When you order an omelet with the bacon and vienna inside you either get fried egg or you get the plain omelet (AND THAT TO ME IS NOT AN OMELET IT IS UNSCRAMBLED EGG),
2. There is never enough toast for everyone, you either wait forever or you just go without.
3. The juice is cheap and horrible.
4. The coffee server takes ages to serve you coffee because he walks around with a small coffee jug. A tip....let him use a trolley and a coffee urn to walk around and pour everyone coffee...so simple and easy.
5. I do not think that maintenance has ever been done at the place regarding exterior walls, window panes, ceiling fans or checking that all the lights work before someone occupies a unit. The Toilet seat in the unit
we were at, no 40 does not even match the color or size of the toilet. The toilet paper is also probably the cheapest toilet paper possible, and some didn't even have the support roll inside.
6.The shaded parking is also non existed. For the price we pay to stay there you can at least have a shaded parking per unit.

Small things go along way in making for a unforgettable holiday. SO please I want to see some improvements the next time i go there.

The staff you have are very friendly and they clean the units very nicely.....SOME of them work very long hours and they are horribly under paid.....Please be more human and pay them a decent salary! Especially for working on Christmas day and New years day!
