Reviews of O Lar Do Ouro Guesthouse in Ponta do Ouro Mozambique

We originally booked 2 nights here but we only stayed for one night. We arrived at the border and was picked up by our taxi driver, a friendly woman. The service was fantastic. They gave us the key to our room, and the owner gave us tips about all the what to do’s and how to get there. As we got into our room, it was sad, the double room was tiny and styffy and the maintenance wasn’t up to date, the shower curtain was miffy and mozzie nets were torn, and the bathroom had a gassy odor.

When we took a swim in the pool, we noticed tiles from the edge coming loose, and that the stairs from the pool had cracks in it, and then night time comes… and there’s a dog in the pool. It was said that it happened a lot, really? A dog in the pool! How can that be okay?

Anyhow, we had a talk with the owner about the things in the room, and we had rather gone to a different hotel, the owner did explain that the previous people booked into the room was a family that stayed there for quite some time, and that they needed to do some things to the room, but then why did she give it to us in the first place if she knew the conditions the room was in? I’m not saying this is a bad place, it seems very nice,, we just had it in an unfortunate time, I’m sure this won’t happen again.
