Island Base Camp is situated in Vilanculos and offers comfortable, clean mid-range accommodation in a refreshing oasis of palm trees and lush gardens.

Vilanculos is a stepping-stone to the 3 main islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago (Bazaruto, Benguerra and Magaruque) and truly the only way to discover Mozambique and its beautiful and untouched coastline.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are volleyball nights on our floodlit court - situated directly in front of the bar.

Island Base Camp Accommodation
We offer twin bed rooms with a shared bathroom, double en-suite rooms and dormitories with a communal kitchen for self-catering.
The floor is tiled; the rooms have mosquito nets, fans, cupboards with hanging and shelf space. The accommodation has 10 separate rooms with linen comprising of 2 sheets, 2 pillowcases, 2 blankets, 1 counterpane per bed, communal ablutions, 2 for men and the other 2 for women.
Each ablution has a shower, basin, a toilet but no toiletries are provided with the exception of soap and toilet rolls.

Island Base Camp Sports Bar and Restaurant
Island Base Camp Bar Restaurant offers tasty ‘pub’ meals in a cool, clean, relaxing atmosphere. We serve a selection of ‘daily fresh’ seafood (prawns, calamari, fish and crab) - together with steak and chicken.
Our ‘Crumbed Calamari’ and burger selection are a definite must! Our Sports Bar offers the passer-by cold beverages in a relaxing, cool environment.
We offer satellite TV which ensures that, whilst on holiday, you do not miss the major sporting events. We play music for all ages and we are the place to party in Vilankulo!

Island Base Camp Activities

DHOW TRIPS
Sail on a traditional – style dhow (complete with motor!) to one of the beautiful Bazaruto islands. Enjoy the multi-colored marine life whilst snorkeling - or suntan on one of our pristine sandy beaches, whilst lunch is freshly prepared.

SNORKELLING / SCUBA DIVING
Take a trip to ‘Two Mile Reef’ - one of the best dive sites in Southern Africa. The coral reefs of the Archipelago support one of the ‘most diverse and least disturbed’ marine populations in the West Indian Ocean. The shallow waters between the islands are home to the rare, mystical Dugong.

DEEP SEA FISHING
Game fish and all other major billfish abound in the waters of the Archipelago. Don’t let these be the ones that ‘get away’!

CALAMARI FISHING
Try your hand at landing one of these ‘tentacled’ creatures and try to avoid being sprayed with ink! This activity provides fun for the entire family!
