Namib Outpost Namib Desert

Sossusvlei and the massive dunes in the surrounding area, is high on the list of attractions to be visited by tourists to Namibia.

What makes this area so special is the vleie - including Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei, where the ephemeral Tsauchab river disappears into the desert sand, leaving behind a pure white salt pan.

The effect of the river carving its way through the desert landscape over millions of years can be seen at the Sesriem Canyon, which is up to 30 metres deep in some places.

Located about 34 km from Sesriem, the Namib Outpost has been seemingly carved out of the desert, rather than being built on top of it.

Natural materials were used in the development of these architecturally sensitive facilities and the result is a beautiful lodge at the base of the mountain. Uninterrupted views over the landscape provide peace and tranquillity in the luxurious setting in the desert.

Spacious accommodation is offered in suites, partially built on stilts, giving it a modern safari lodge ambiance.

The units seem to be built into the surrounding landscape and thatched roofs keep it cool during the hot summer months.

A private sundeck is available at each suite, as well as a private outdoor sleeper deck, where a bed can be set up under the stars for a beautiful experience of sleeping under the stars.
