This camp has some positives but the negatives outweigh
the positives. I will start with the positive, the camp is an ideal
stopover, reasonable priced with stunning river views and the camp
is a short walking distance to the Popa Falls.
The negative are as follows, on arrival they were not aware of
our booking but we booked and paid in full a month prior, check
in was slow and the reception desk was dirty with lots of paper
everywhere (first impressions). There was no orientation; we didn’t
know a thing about the camp, no one bothered to tell us about the
facilities and services onsite and where we can find other facilities
that are not available onsite. The bungalows are old and in need
of some attention, the bungalows are not en-suite there is an ablution
block and a communal kitchen which we were unaware of at the time
of making a booking and again no one bothered to clarify this to
us.
The bungalow has an outside braai area, fridge and a kettle but
no kitchen utensils at all (cups and cutlery). We were booked on
a bed and breakfast basis and the food was below standard, we hardly
eat our breakfast it tasted awful and under cooked, dinner was provided
on an additional cost but due to our bad experience during breakfast
we decided to cook something for ourselves.
There is a not so convenient shop onsite which sales beverages
and not basics since there is communal kitchen onsite, I thought
common sense could have told them to stock up all the necessary
basics but I guess common sense is not common to everyone. |
