Nice but overpriced
|
My husband and I stayed at Onguma Tented Camp for
one evening in December. The camp and the tented accommodation is
very nice, but there is no aircon and the little fan did not help
much for the heat. We were also constantly pestered by the Ovambo
(?) flies. There was nothing to see at the little waterhole which
we felt was a bit misleading. Our meal was nice but certainly not
deserving of the claimed rating and price. The staff were friendly
and accommodating though; we had quite a terrifying night with a
hectic thunderstorm. We are both very used to thunderstorms having
lived on the Highveld in South Africa all our lives, but this was
quite something! Our tent flaps came loose as it is only secured
by Velcro so we had a constant water spray on us. We only discovered
the next morning that one of the flag poles had come loose. However
the staff were kind enough to let us transfer to The Fort at Onguma
for our 2nd night\'s stay (which was really great and recommended). All
in all it\'s nice enough to stay but I think overpriced.

Modern tented camp |
Modern designed tents with all the necessary facilities.
The only short coming was the bed nets, this place is malaria free
zone but there are irritating mosquitos and there kept awake the
whole night. We saw a lot of animals up close and personal on their
way to fro the waterhole, the food was great, the dining area is
located at the back and far from the water hole. |

Our guide was good!! |
We spent a full day at Ongava, our guide was good
and very knowledgeable, and we saw a lot of animals like the white
and black rhino, elephants, giraffes and many more. The rooms were
spacious and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. |
