Reviews of Shark Island in Luderitz Namibia

We hired three chalets at Shark Island and their prices were ridiculous, there charged the same price as a luxury guest house in town.
The place is hardly maintained and the service was very poor. There was no housekeeping for three days of our stay there; until we brought this to their attention did they do something about it.

I thought self-catering meant you can cater for yourself like prepare meals and all but not clean after yourself, we could have stayed home if we wanted to clean after ourselves.
Management was rude and gave us an attitude every time we went to raise and issue because even the bathroom state was disturbing, the tiles were broken, sharp edges and slummy.

Parking here is at owner’s risk, we were advised to take everything in the car to our room to reduce the chance of break in, there were no guards on duty or anything. This place is past it’s sell by date….

At first my husband and I wanted to stay 5 nights in the Old Lighthouse on Shark Island. We had been
told this was lovely accommodation.

I could only have 2 nights in the Old Lighthouse and 3 nights in the chalets. Unfortunately so late in the day I had to accept this option. Two days in the Old Lighthouse were absolute bliss. We looked forward to the move to the chalets. They are very nice and lack for nothing BUT are opposite the new harbour where they load zinc ore right through the night. What a disaster!!! The noise of the heavy moving machinery was horrific - my husband and I could not sleep until 04:00 in the morning when the shiftwork ended. Two nights of that and we had absolutely enough of the unacceptable noise levels and left Luderitz with a paid for night at the chalets therefore forfeited. We will never stay there again
