Of all the camps in the Etosha National Park, Namutoni is the closest to Fisher's Pan. This pan is famous for the waterbirds - including flamingos - which breed here during the wet season. This camp is only 12 km from the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern side of Etosha.
The old German fort in Namutoni gives it a uniquely historical atmosphere and gave its name to the camp. From the walls of this fort, the animals at King Nehale waterhole can be viewed from an elevated position. This is an ideal place for enjoying a sundowner while watching the breathtaking African sunsets.
