Hotel Helmeringhausen lies in the tiny settlement of Helmeringhausen in southern Namibia. It was founded during the German colonial era as a farm by a member of the Schutztruppe. Later, it became famous for its Karakul sheep breeding.
Camping
We have a campsite for guests that love the outdoors. Excellent food and personal service are guaranteed in the unique and friendly country hotel. A hearty breakfast and a 3-course dinner are served in our cosy restaurant.
Nature Drives
The hotel is part of the historic 11,000 ha Farm Helmeringhausen. Farm drives and sundowner drives are usually conducted in the afternoons and continue for about 2½ hours. You will be impressed with the scenery, explanations, and interesting facts about our fauna and flora.
Hiking and Sundowners (Self-Guided)
A five-minute walk takes you to a nearby hill where we've created a relaxed setting with some chairs and tables. Take a bottle of something with you and enjoy the beautiful sunset. Suitable for all ages.
Bird Watching
Birding in the beer garden is a popular pastime. The weavers' nests are a source of constant enjoyment and activity.
Tennis Court (Self-Guided)
Tennis can be played on our tennis court; keys can be obtained at the reception of the hotel.
National Monument (Booked/Self-Guided)
The old German Police Station at Chamies is approximately 20 km away. The graves in the area are well maintained. Trips can be arranged, or guests can enjoy a self-drive outing.
