Aloegrove Safari Lodge is situated 36 km north-east of Otjiwarongo, in the middle of a private game park. It is set on 8,300 hectares of farmland, of which 4,000 hectares have been allocated for the lodge and game, with the remaining hectares being used for cattle farming.
Located approximately 1,630 m above sea level, the 360º view over the vast savanna and the Waterberg Plateau affords magnificent vistas. As the lodge specialises in small private groups, the emphasis is on undivided personal attention, and they pride themselves on putting their guests first.
The name Aloegrove originates from the abundant 'Aloe littoralis' growing in the area, which belongs to the tree family Aloe, easily identified by its magnificent burnt-orange flowers.
Their superb cuisine also caters for vegetarians and vegans, and their excellent dining facilities include an open fireplace and an outdoor braai area, ideal venues for breakfast and dinner. (Lunch must be pre-booked.) To complement the dining experience, the lodge offers several excellent South African wines.
A great favourite at Aloegrove Safari Lodge is the scheduled lion, leopard, and cheetah feeding. It is the ideal moment to see these magnificent beasts at close range and is a marvellous opportunity to get the cameras out.
