Okaukuejo is the oldest camp in Etosha National Park and is located 17 km from the Anderson Gate, which is the main and most used entrance to the park.
The main attraction at Okaukuejo is the waterhole right next to the camp which is lit at night, and makes for spectacular game viewing all day and night long
With its stone tower dating from 1963 giving visitors access to views over the vast plains surrounding the camp all the way to the Etosha pan, the camp offers a wide range of accommodation facilities.

Premier Waterhole Chalet
There are only 5 of these double storey, 2-bedroom chalets, making it a sought after and exclusive type of accommodation.
The upper balcony overlooks the waterhole and gives guests the opportunity to do game viewing all through the night.
The main bedroom on the upper floor accommodates two adults and a staircase leads down to the ground floor, where the second bedroom is.
An additional 2 adults are accommodated in the second bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms, the one on the upper floor being en-suite to the bedroom. There is a small lounge area with a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.
There are no self-catering or barbeque facilities at these chalets and meals are to be enjoyed at the restaurant. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate.

Waterhole Chalet
30 Chalets have been built close to the waterhole and even though these chalets don't all have a direct view onto the waterhole, the proximity ensures game viewing all through the day and night.
The comfortable double rooms have an en-suite bathroom. There are no cooking or barbeque facilities at the Waterhole Chalets, but breakfast is included in the nightly fee.
Meals are to be enjoyed at the restaurant.Mosquito nets and air-conditioners ensure your comfort in these luxurious chalets.

Family Chalet
Self-catering accommodation for families are available in the 2 family chalets. Each of the 2 bedrooms are furnished with two 3/4 beds, sharing one bathroom with a shower.
A small kitchenette and barbeque area is available and equipped for basic food preparation. A fridge and tea/coffee making facilities is standard at all chalets.
Breakfast is included in the nightly rate and can be enjoyed at the restaurant.

Bush Chalet
The 25 bush chalets accommodate a maximum of 2 adults each. The bedroom is furnished with two single beds and there is a separate lounge area and a bathroom.
Perfect for visitors who enjoy doing their own barbeque, an outdoor braai area is provided. Breakfast is included and can be enjoyed at the restaurant.

Double Room
The 40 simple, but comfortable double rooms at Okaukuejo are a little bit further away from the waterhole and closer to the communal areas, where the restaurant and swimming pools are.
The rooms are furnished with 2.5 beds each and has an en-suite bathroom.
A fridge and coffee/tea making facilities area is available, but no self-catering or barbeque facilities are supplied. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate and can be enjoyed at the restaurant.

Campsites
The campsites at Okaukuejo provide all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Each site has a power point and barbeque facilities. Lights, taps and rubbish bins are distributed throughout the camp.
The 3 communal ablution facilities have hot water showers, 3 kitchens, washing areas and basic laundry facilities. Many of the campsites have trees providing much needed shade.

Okaukuejo Amenities
The waterhole right next to the camp is the main attraction of your stay at Okaukuejo. Game viewing from this point is simply spectacular.
There is a restaurant as well as a bar, where all meals can be enjoyed. Three swimming pools are available to cool off in during the hot hours of the day.
Game drives can be undertaken from the camp - both guided and self-drive options are available.

What To Do at Okaukuejo
The highlight of a stay at Okaukuejo is the waterhole right next to the camp, which can be visited all through the day and night.
The floodlights shining onto the waterhole at night, gives one the opportunity to watch the interaction between the animals at all hours.
This is the ideal setting for photographing the African wildlife with the breathtaking African sunset as backdrop to your pictures.

Things to See
- Aus is a good waterhole. You should see black-faced impala, elephant, gemsbok, kudu, springbok, zebra, and even rhino.
- Gemsbokvlakte is an excellent waterhole for viewing in the dry months. This waterhole attracts a variety of animals, including elephants and lions.
- Homob is close to the edge of the pan.
- Okaukuejo waterhole is a main attraction at the camp. The bustling night-time activity around the waterhole is beautiful. Furthermore, the viewing platform is about 50 metres from the hole, floodlit after dark.
- Okondeka waterhole at the edge of the pan is popular with the plain's animals. Once in a while, you will see a giraffe and even a lion here.
- Olifantsbad is in an attractive mopane veld. Here you will find various animals, including elephants, lions, black-faced impalas, red hartebeest, gemsbok, kudu, and zebra.
- Ombika: This is an Etosha National Park camping favourite as it's a good waterhole visited by various animals. Its location is also convenient as it's on your way to Okaukuejo Camp from the Anderson Gate.
