Sesriem is in the heart of the Namib-Naukluft Reserve and the gateway to Sossusvlei, which has become a world-renowned attraction
Visitors flock to the area to climb some of the biggest dunes in the world and witness the ancient, fossilised trees on the white salt pans where the Tsauchab River disappears into the sandy desert.
Staying inside the Namib-Naukluft Park will give you the advantage of visiting these incredible sites earlier than those who have to first enter the park at Sesriem after sunrise, before driving the 60 km to Sossusvlei.
Sesriem Camping Accommodation
The campsites at Sesriem are far apart and most of them are set around massive camel thorn trees, providing shelter from the desert sun.

What To Do at Sesriem Camping
Stay for at least two nights at Sesriem camp to have enough time to enjoy an early morning trip to watch the sunrise over the dunes at Sossusvlei.
The typical African sunset is even more breathtaking when seen over the desert landscape.
Numerous exciting activities and incredible attractions are within your reach when staying at Sesriem - the namesake canyon included.
Early pioneers had to tie six lengths of rawhide thongs (rieme) together to draw water from the pools.
