Swakopmund is a beautiful seaside town, set between the Namib Desert and the Atlantic Ocean. Founded in 1892 during German colonial rule, the town retained its German historical background in the architecture and culture, as it developed into a modern town. Swakopmund is still a beautiful holiday town and the wide variety of attractions and excursions on offer, made this the Adventure Capital of Namibia.
Tiger Reef Campsite is located at the mouth of the Swakop River and is therefore only a few metres away from the beach. The lagoon forms the border of the Dorob National Park and a variety of beautiful birds - including flamingos and pelicans, can be seen at the campsite.
