The Waterberg Wilderness Private Nature Reserve is located in central Namibia, almost halfway between Windhoek and the Etosha National Park. The Park was established in 1972 and named after the prominent flat topped mountain that rises from the plateau.
The Waterberg is elevated high above the plains of the Omaheke Region of the Kalahari of Eastern Namibiai.
During the rain season, the red sandstone found at the upper level of the mountain absorbs rainwater. Because the base consists of impermeable rock, it allows the absorbed water to escape along this layer in the form of springs, giving the mountain its appropriate name.
Waterberg Valley Lodge is located on a hill in a wide valley of the Waterberg and overlooks the valley and the red mountain cliffs. The canvas tents are luxurious, but affordable.

What To Do at Waterberg Valley Lodge
The geological history of the Waterberg dates back 850 million years and in addition to dinosaur tracks, there are over 90 species of mammals, more than 200 species of birds and almost 500 plant species to discover.Activities provided by the lodge or provided nearby, nearby tourist attractions, places to visit and things to see.
Because the plateau is largely inaccessible from beneath, several of Namibia's endangered animal species were relocated into the area during the early 1970s to protect them from predators and poaching to extinction.
The programme was very successful and Waterberg now supplies other Namibian parks with rare animals.
