The Waterberg Wilderness Private Nature Reserve is located in central Namibia, about halfway between the capital city Windhoek and the world renowned Etosha National Park.

The Reserve was established in 1972 and named after the prominent flat topped mountain that rises from the plateau.

The red sandstone found at the upper level of the mountain absorbs rainwater during the wet season. The base consists of impermeable rock, which allows the absorbed water to escape along this layer in the form of springs, giving the mountain its appropriate name.

Okosongomingo is an authentic and productive cattle farm, set at the foot of the Waterberg Plateau, in the midst of the 41 000 hectare Nature Reserve.

Owned by the Schneider-family since 1909, this third generation farm still continues its cattle farming tradition and also added a unique mixed Arab-breed horses, which is well-known in Namibia.
