Etosha is an iconic part of Namibia, and every visitor to this beautiful country includes a trip to Etosha National Park in their itinerary. Surrounding the white expanse of the 4,800-square-kilometre salt pan—aptly named “the great white place”—the park was proclaimed as a game reserve in 1907 and since then has provided a safe haven for thousands of wild animals and birds.
There are only four rest camps in Etosha, offering a variety of accommodation types. Namutoni is located on the north-eastern side and was developed around the historical Fort Namutoni, which was built in 1896 as a German police post.
