The guest house at El Gordo Adventure Tours is truly a home away from home. However, the main feature of the place is the large open deck overlooking El Nido bay, a great place to relax with a cold drink and a snack after a day exploring the area by bike or kayak.

Your Hosts

Your hosts, Cristina and Gordo, invite you into their pension style home to relax and enjoy while visiting El Nido. Cristina's specialty is making your stay as comfortable as possible, including fueling your day with a wholesome, home cooked breakfast. You can choose from either Western or Filipino dishes and of course, fresh-ground Philippines grown coffee is always available. Gordo's job is ensuring his guests have unforgettable experiences on his guided kayak and mountain bike tours. When he's not on the sea, road, or trail, he'll be helping Cristina at the guesthouse.

Your Guide, El Gordo

Your guide, Gord Mclaughlin or El Gordo has travelled to over 20 countries on 6 continents, searching for a place to call home. After having enough of the lengthly cold winters of his native home in Canada, he's taken up permanent residence in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. El Gordo has been an outdoors and sports enthusiast all his life and now wants to share his passion for the great outdoors. El Gordo has spent the past year exploring and mapping out cycling and kayaking routes in the El Nido area, and has spent countless hours under the sea with mask and snorkel, looking for the best areas for viewing coral and sea life.

Adventures

Pedal 15 mountain bike tour destinations, bike along tranquil dirt roads, forest trails and through rural villages. Adventures lead to waterfalls, caves and secluded beaches. The level of difficulty ranges from beginner to extreme, work together to tailor the trip to suit your ability level, interest, and available time. Mountain bikes are all high quality imported brands such as Canondale and Specialized, equipped with Shimano components, disc brakes, and front suspension.

Paddle and Snorkel

Over 22 islands easily navigated by kayak. Almost all are uninhabited with deserted beaches scattered around the shoreline. Many are flanked by majestic limestone cliffs and occasionally hidden lagoons and caves cut into some of these cliffs, best reached by the peaceful dipping of a kayak paddle. For a real treat, try a full moon or sunset tour.

Nothing compares to the peace and serenity experienced by diving down a few meters to the silent world of coral and sea life. The spectacular coral formations and kaleidascope colors of the resident fish will intrigue you for hours in the warm tropical waters.

Our kayaks are fiberglass, streamlined sea kayaks equipped with rudders and custom made here in the Philippines by Bugsai Kayaks. Most are open deck style for better stability in rough water, but if you prefer, 1 boat has a traditional closed deck and spray skirt.

NOTE Overnight tours include the above plus a 4 person tent, blankets, cooking gear, utensils, meals, water and a bangka boat to transport equipment and cook meals. Bangka supported tours must have a minimum of 2 people. We camp on secluded island beaches.

NOTES

Most tours listed are guided. Gordo will personally lead private groups of 2 to 6 adventure-seekers by bike or kayak. A few of the simpler tours may be offered as unguided, see rental only' option.

Prices for all tours are per person. Payment is by cash or PayPal, in advance. A damage deposit will be required for unguided tours.

For some of the longer kayak tours a bangka boat, motorized traditional Filipino outrigger boat can be arranged for 1 or both ways to the tour area selected. There will be an additional cost for this service, as shown above.

To ensure your safety and maximum enjoyment during a tour, a pre-tour meeting and checklist review is required. Ideally, this meeting will take place in person, prior to the tour day, but can be done over the internet eg Skype, Facebook chat, etc., depending on travellers' schedules.

Directions to El Gordos Guesthouse

There are two options going to El Nido by plane first is Manila to El Nido chartered flight which is a direct flight but should be booked in advance. The second option is a direct flight to Puerto Princesa Airport upon arrival, take the 6 hour land trip from the airport to El Nido Town via aircon and non aircon bus public transport or private vans. Bus are located in San Jose Terminal in Puerto Princesa. It takes 30 minutes from El Nido downtown to the resort. From El Gordo's Guesthouse to airport, 9 minutes.
