After a day of diving or hiking around Coron, come back and relax at your own private cottage. Both of our private cottages have spectacular views and quiet locations. In addition, you can take in the views from our tree house, or just relax in a hammock with a cold beverage.

Activities

Island Hopping Coron, Busuanga and the surrounding islands have so much to offer, and the best way to see them is by island-hopping boat. Take a day to explore some of the 700 islands making up the group of islands knows as the Calamianes. A day of island hopping from Coron can include relaxing on secluded even swimming in a breathtaking fresh water crater lake.

Scuba Diving If you have any interest in learning SCUBA diving, Coron is the place to do it. Kevin will take you to an island beach where you can try diving with an experienced instructor in shallow water. Once you have the basic skills, it’s time to explore the reef and have an experience of a lifetime. After lunch on the boat and a chill on the island, if you’re up for it you can try another dive site.

Coron Wreck Diving Coron offers some of the best wreck diving you’ll find anywhere in the world. And these ship wrecks aren’t just purposefully sunken to create a dive site. These are a big piece of history. Come join us for some world-class wreck diving in Coron. In 1944 the American Navy launched an airborne attack from the East Coast of the Philippines to the Calamian Islands in the South China Sea. The Japanese had moved their supply fleet from Manila to these islands thinking it was beyond the reach of the Americans. But three squadrons of American bombers had auxiliary fuel tanks enabling them to make the longest a gentle look into the cargo holds, to exploring rooms on the lower deck levels and checking out the engine bays and propeller shafts, there is much to see. For suitably qualified divers, Kevin will also organize technical diving days that will include twin tanks and EAN for decompression dives.

Kayaking If you just want to paddle about and kayak Coron, rent a kayak for 500php for the day and take it out from Coron town. It’s 1k to Coron Island where you can have some fun exploring for the day and getting to the hot spots on your own steam. If you need a guide, add an extra 500 for the day. We can arrange an organized trip that will take you kayaking around the island, camping on beaches for a real adventure.

Hiking/Trekking You might not equate Coron, Busuanga with hiking or trekking, but if you’re inclined it all to tackle a great incline, Mount Tandalar is worth the trek. The highest point on Busuanga Island is Mount Tandalar at 2400ft. From there you can see all of the Calaminis islands with a 360o view, and on a clear day it’s possible to see Mindoro and Northern Palawan. The walk up is stunning first it takes your through rain forest and then through natural bamboo plantation. Finally you break out into the open mountain area that continues to climb a further 700ft to the summit giving breath taking scenery. It’s so hard to give a real description of the beauty. The walk takes between 2 to 3 hrs up and 1-1/2 to 2hrs down, so it’s a full day. It’s possible to do it on your own but a guide is advisable at 1000php for the day. You also need to get to the starting point which you can do by motor bike or tryke. It’s a truly great day out.

Motor Bike Riding Kaba Kaba offers motorbike rental for P300 per day. The beautiful scenery around Coron and the rest of Busuanga Island is not to be missed. If you have experience riding a motorbike, a day taking a gentle ride to some of the hot spots outside of the main town is a great activity. If you do wish to use a motorbike, it’s best if you’ve had experience riding a bike off road on rural tracks. A day trip around the island to experience rural life in the Philippines, to take in the scenery of rice terraces, meet people at the local sari sari stores, check out one of the luxury hotels, or take in the gorgeous island views is a great experience for motorbike riders with off-road experience. In the north of the island there is a wildlife park with giraffes, zebras, as well as indigenous animals. It’s a fun experience but don’t expect a European park.

Dining/Home Cooking For dining, there are great places in town that are good value just ask and we can recommend some for you. And if you find you’re in the mood for a relaxing evening at Kaba Kaba with good conversation and a great home cooked meal, we can definitely accommodate! Kaba Kaba doesn’t have a formal restaurant, but let us know and we will be happy to cook any meals (breakfast and dinner) for you. Good advice to eating out is: find out where the locals go. That would be Coron Bistro. They have an extensive menu and everything is tasty, and all at reasonable prices. There are also plenty of new restaurants and bars popping up that need to be tried out. In addition, the really cheap street food can provide a meal for as little as 50php. There is a local fruit and vegetable market where you can buy fresh produce for the day if you’re planning a day away or just want to snack.

Swimming Pools If it’s just a splash pool you’re after, stay at home at Kaba Kaba and enjoy the view sitting in the pool. Close to us within walking distance is a new public pool 20m by 10m at around 50php per person for proper exercise. Also nearby, some of the resorts open their pools to the public for around 200php per day all within easy access by bike or tryke.

Directions to Kaba Kaba Cottage Resort

Look for a flight to Busuanga Airport, Coron. There are regular flights 3 to 4 times a day with some domestic airlines. From Busuanga airport it's a 40 minute transfer ride to Coron town. There are shuttle vans operating outside the terminal that cost around Php 150 per person. The resort is a 30 minute ride from the airport.
