Each of the Marcliffe Hotel's 7 suites and 35 bedrooms has been individually designed to provide our guests with maximum comfort.

All our suites and bedrooms have king-size or zip-link beds, while inter-connecting rooms have double and twin beds to amply accommodate four guests - we also have extra roll-away beds available for larger families.

Bathrobes, hair-dryers, refrigerated mini-bars with soft drinks and snacks, fresh fruit, biscuits, evening maid service, newspapers and magazines are standard to all our bedrooms and suites.

The Marcliffe operates a same-day laundry and dry cleaning service. Each room features two direct-dial telephone lines and four television channels are available - Sky News, CNN and the choice of two movie channels. The Marcliffe offers a 24 hours room service Menu.

The Drawing Room Bar and Lounge features many original paintings by Scottish artists, as well as a fascinating array of artifacts collected by the Spence family over the years, including a display of 140 cheese dishes - collected from all corners of the globe.

The focal point of this splendid drawing room is the baby grand piano which is festooned with a pictorial record of some of the many VIPs and celebrities who have visited and stayed in our hotel since it opened in 1993.

Attractions
Aberdeen has won "Britain in Bloom" many times and its links with the Granite trade are commemorated in its nickname "The Granite City". The city is of great historical interest and the numerous castles in the area testify to its tempestuous past.

Scotland is renowned for it's whisky and many distilleries are close by. In the heart of the city itself His Majesty's Theatre, The Maritime Museum, The Art Gallery, and Marischal College are all worth a visit.

The most outstanding of the traditional golf clubs in the area is Royal Aberdeen Golf Club at Balgownie Links established in 1780, the 6th oldest registered club in the world.

Aberdeen is the gateway to Royal Deeside and since Balmoral Castle was built for Queen Victoria in 1855, the Royal Family have enjoyed the peace and tranquility of their summer retreat. When the family are not in residence, you can visit Balmoral and gain an insight to over a century of royal life on Deeside.

The spectacular scenery of Deeside offers some of the finest stalking, shooting and fishing in Scotland.

On the first Saturday of September, the Braemar Gathering draws thousands to the brilliant spectacle of pipe bands, the splendour of tartan and the excitement of the "heavy" sporting events.

Balmoral Castle
Balmoral Castle is Her Majesty The Queen's highland holiday home. Balmoral can be found just off the A93 between Ballater and Braemar. During certain times of the year, it is open to the public offering exhibitions, gardens, cafeteria, souvenir shops, pony trekking and pony cart rides.

Crathes Castle
Fairytale-like turrets and superb painted ceilings are just two of the exciting features at this most picturesque castle.The building of the castle (shown above) began in 1553 and took forty years to complete.

Just over 300 years later, the Burnett's created eight superb gardens which now provide a riot of colour throughout the summer. Exhibition and displays, licensed restaurant, shop and plant sales area, nature trail and playground.

Opening Times: 1st April - 31 October, daily 1100 - 1730 (last admission 1645). Other times by arrangement. Garden and grounds, all year, daily 0930-sunset.

Mariscal Museum
This impressive structure is the second largest granite building in the world.The museum was founded in 1786, with material that has been donated by generations of friends and graduates of the University.

The collections range from Egyptian and Classical antiquities, non-Western ethnography and Scottish prehistory and rank alongside the largest in the world. Discover the North-east; discover the world! Marischal Museum is located in Marischal College in the centre of Aberdeen. As the Museum is on the first floor, disabled access is restricted.

St. Marcha's Cathedral
St Machar's Cathedral is a fortified twin spired Cathedral with Celtic origins. There has been a church on the site since circa 580 AD when, according to legend, Machar, a companion of St Columba, founded a church here.

St Machar's is a working church, open every day of the year for visitors, schools and groups. St Machar's Cathedral is located in Old Aberdeen.

From Union Street, follow the A93 signs to Braemar. From the A93/A90 junction, the hotel is one mile on the right.

Getting There by Railway:
From Aberdeen railway station. Proceed to the city centre. Proceed left from Bridge Street. Head west direction A93 Braemar. Hotel is one mile on the right after the A90 north/A90 south junction.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Aberdeen Airport take A96 to the city centre. Then A93, direction Braemar. Hotel one mile on right after A90 north/A90 south junction, on A93.
